Oz is a mixed-use urban district just west of Ft. Lauderdale; a place to live, work, and entertain that is rooted in sustainability and rich with economic, cultural and social impact. This new, master-planned, pedestrian-focused city brings the magic and talent of first-run, Broadway-quality theatre to South Florida in addition to countless other cultural diversions.

Great results are born of powerful partnerships and Oz is no exception: South Florida's Sunrise Sports & Entertainment, owners of the Florida Panthers and operators of the BankAtlantic Center – offering 200 premiere live events annually – have joined forces with legendary theatrical producer, Jimmy L. Nederlander, to bring Broadway south and create a 24/7entertainment locale, a place for the world to visit, a place for all of South Florida to treasure and enjoy.

Oz and its special appeal will be a great place to lure new Fortune 500 companies along with thousands of new jobs creating a total economic impact to the area as a whole of $1.28 billion a year, and $20 million per year in new tax revenue to each of the following: Broward County, the City of Sunrise, the State of Florida and the Broward County School Board. And a partnership with the State of Florida University system wraps education into the impressive mix of Oz's cultural, social and economic profile.

City of Culture, Sustainability
and Pride

Oz is many things: it is a theatre and entertainment district, shopping and dining destination, charming neighborhood, and a dynamic and thriving workplace.

Following in the footsteps of The Nederlander Organization's unparalleled success in developing Broadway-quality entertainment – and its resulting economic gain – Oz invites Floridians, tourists and professionals alike to revel in world-class entertainment. From musicals to drama to children's theatre and more, Oz is a global destination, a district that embodies a deep sense of pride emanating across the entire state.

Oz's new urbanism includes a community designed with universal access to public spaces; equal attention paid to pedestrians and cars; minimized urban sprawl; reduced traffic; the provision of educational opportunities for neighboring communities; and other principles of superior, community-minded development. Conceptually, ‘sustainability' means meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Oz accomplishes this goal by deeply enhancing the cultural landscape of today's South Florida.

Community, Enlightened.

At the heart of any community beats the social buzz of people coming together. In a world that’s often too busy for its own good, Oz invites visitors and residents to interact, face to face. Residents easily get around on foot, from their environmentally-conscious condo to the nearby local farmers’ market to myriad choices of entertainment venues.

While people bring Oz to life, Oz itself is alive. Its social responsibility extends beyond dynamic cultural offerings to a commitment to sustainability. LEED - or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - is a U.S. Green Building Council rating system that marries maximum energy efficiency with cutting-edge design, and is one of Oz’s critical components.

Entertainment and inspiration, hope and authenticity…Oz enlightens all those who live, work and play here. It will enlighten you too.

The People – and Passion
– Behind Oz

Alan Cohen, Chairman and CEO of Sunrise Sports & Entertainment, envisions Oz as an opportunity to create a globally recognized location for entertainment, set within a vibrant, pedestrian-oriented, environmentally friendly urban district as well as a catalyst to enhance the economic potential of Broward County and the State of Florida.

To that end, in 2008, James L. Nederlander, became a partner in Sunrise Sports & Entertainment to spearhead the Broadway component of Oz. Nederlander is the preeminent theatre "brand" with numerous theatres around America and in London. Their three generations of leadership in legitimate theatre management and operations is legendary.

Oz is centrally located to all of South Florida including nearby cities Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach and Naples.
